I would totally buy a Crosstour if I could get a 6-speed manual with the V6 and AWD. Think about it- wonderful Honda shifter, 270hp V6, traction to all 4 wheels, and dat reliability. It even comes in brown!
I went for a ride in one recently that I got for a client, they are pretty nice on the inside and darn quick.

what?? Hell naw.

But it doesn't come with those features. And that's (one of) the reasons I don't like it.

What about a Nissan Murano Crosscabriolet with a 6MT, V6, and AWD?

this is of course if any dealer in the nation would let you in their doors ever again :)

STAHP.

Luckily, I don't have to go in through the doors. ;)

I'd rock it. In white with some black wheels of sorts.

That's all well and good.
However, if you did, you'd still be driving a car that looks like a dog taking a dump.
Now, if Honda had kept the roofline raised all the way to the hatch, they'd have built a perfect Subaru Outback fighter.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 16:56 |

It would be like a less-expensive, more-reliable Panamera. You'd even get the same looks from other drivers.

Well, it is made in America (East Liberty, Ohio)

I know it's all personal opinion, but that thing is right below (or above, not sure how that works... it's not the worst, but second worst) the Pontiac Aztec in "Top 10 Ugliest Cars."

They are hideous

Correction, I think the Acura version is worse, mostly due to the higher sticker.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:03 |

I'd buy one, then turn it into a rally car. How about that?

Last summer when I was getting rid of my Mazdaspeed 6, I started out looking at practical awd things that might still be sorta sporty. I checked out a turbo RDX and a Crosstour. I liked the Crosstour way better. It's actually a pretty nice car. Shame that they had to refresh it by adding more wannabe-trucky cladding. What it needs is less cladding and a lower ride height.
Putting aside the stupid stretched tires I actually kinda like this...
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:05 |

ACK. Go away. Nope. Have you ever driven a Honda AWD vehicle?
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:05 |

"The Acura version" ZDX is actually a chopped-roof MDX while the Crosstour is a tall-roof, awd Accord.

Can it be lowered slightly and the suspension be enhanced for better handling? As butt-ugly (see what I did there?) as some folks think it is, it actually sounds like it could be modded a bit to be very nice ride.

That garnered a chuckle.

I'd pass on the Crosstour, but if I could get a 6MT 3.7 Acura ZDX, I totally would.
You can already get the same 3.7 and SH-AWD with a 6MT in a TL. How hard could it be?

I like the overall idea, I hear you, they're just not good enough for the money, IMO.
It either needs to be a slightly better road car, or more capable in the ballpark of an Outback. The driving dynamics are spoiled by the roll-prone suspension, but doesn't give you the feeling you can take it anywhere that's not a road. I shopped them a few years back, just didn't see the pay off.

I live in Ohio... I would just avoid it all together. The state and the car.

Didn't Consumer Reports say the Honda V6 has reliability issues?

I can no longer edit my own comments... but I really wanted to say...
You complained about the Allroad's ride height, and now this???

Im pretty sure ive seen this exact car at a couple car meets last summer. And in person, its actually rather low, by that i mean the roofline came down a lot from a stock one, and overall, looked much better than stock. In his trunk he had it all decked out with the compressor tank and lights. It was very clean tho.
Also. Dem wheels! In person those wheels are just as massive as they look.

I'm probably going to get some shit for this, but I'd choose the ZDX. Basically the same car only the ZDX has better lines in my opinion. They look like spaceships and I love them.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:32 |

I would rock that, in flat green, lowered and on almost-slick rubber - and piss of everyone, all the time.

They aren't that tall
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:39 |

Right... so... it has to be big and ugly to have ground clearance?
(I'm just ribbing you, I know how you like the proportions.)
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:41 |

I'm right there with you; since I first saw it it has stirred something deep inside of me in my odd fetish zone.

So maybe I should create a DC Metro #crosstour registry or something
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:46 |

I've driven one and they are rather nice. The problem doesn't come when you're in it though, it's when you have to get out and look at it. It really kills it. Why not just a regular wagon, Honda? My dealer (he also does all appraisals) called it so ugly he thought they had stopped making it. When I informed him they still make it his response was "Why?" Appropriate, I thought.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:48 |

Nope. I have to resist the urge to burn the neighbors down the street every time I see it. I think it was a case study to prove Japanese makers could make something as terrible as the Aztec if they put their minds to it.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:49 |
|
Is there a difference? Aren't they all on the same platform?
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:54 |

Sorta kinda. The Pilot/MDX/ZDX are about 500 lbs heavier than the Crosstour which is about 500 lbs heavier than an Accord.

disagreed... I work right by there and Columbus is a great town.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 18:18 |

I actually always kind of liked the looks of these. Especially the back.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 18:19 |

I'm with you, buddy! I think they look pretty good, actually, and that brown one is downright sexy. If it came in a manual, I would definitely consider one.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 18:20 |

I love Columbus and Cincinnati, but where I live is honestly a shameful town.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 19:18 |

Hell yeah. I think it looks great!
I like the ZDX, the X6 because it reminds me of my favorite car of all time AMC Eagle SX4
![]() 02/05/2014 at 19:22 |
|
Glad someone agrees with me! I've never considered that it mildly resembles the AMC, but now that you mention it, I think you're right!
![]() 02/05/2014 at 19:27 |

It may not have the same lines or dimensions as the Eagle but it's that mix of off-roader/SUV + coupe that reminds me of it.

Different strokes and all that. I just wish it was a true wagon. The rear looks way too cartoonish to me.

Except for the blue jackets.

The dealer asked "why?"
Wow. That's hilarious.
